It is hard to define your true motives. When it gets right down to it, you have to accept that some of your motives are not pure. However you can also realize what your good motives are. I guess I just find the mix difficult to handle. I want to justify myself by acting on my good motives, but can't quite rule out the not so good ones. Anyway it is an intriuging self battle.

The Epicurean would say that whatever motive leads to the most/ultimate pleasure (not just immediate, but long term) is the motive that you should follow.
Although Kant would probably say there is a categorial imperative and as rational agents our motives and actions should comport with that imperative.
And Rousseau would probably say that by living in society we agree to abide by a social compact and thus, our actions are not about natural rigut but rather acting for the social good to increase our own freedoms.
Who knows man... just do it (says Nike and Michael Jordan).
Congratulations on preparing for and taking the test. You've done your best and let's hope it's enough for your to get into the law school of your choice.
