One wild ride...

As you can see from the picture we have had quite a lot of fun getting set up here in Charlottesville. I have decided to try to do a weekly post to give an account of our exploits here in Virginia. Maybe I will try to turn it into something of a newsletter, but you don't have to read it if it gets boring (which it might, civil procedure might not provide a thrilling adventure of a life time).
The moving truck with our stuff arrived on Tuesday. Luckily getting our stuff into the apartment was much easier than getting it into the truck, but I was still sore for a couple days afterward. Anyway we spent most of the week unpacking and going shopping for needed furniture and stuff. Our apartment didn't really come with any overhead lights for the bedrooms and living room, so we also had to buy lamps etc for all the rooms. Now we have most of our stuff unpacked and things are starting to look pretty nice. We will have to post a little video tour of our apartment next week.
We are also getting used to many of the various differences between life out west and out here. Luckily we have a map or else this place would be impossible to navigate. Instead of putting the names of streets on the bars in the intersection, they post signs telling you the name of the street about 100 yards before. We can now make our way to the university and all the main shopping centers. We also are getting used to the humidity and all the other small little oddities.
Yesterday we went to Monitcello to take some time off from packing. It was pretty amazing. We went on a tour of his house and a plantation tour where they tell you about the lives of his slaves. It was really fascinating. The grounds are located on a huge hill so you can look out to the east and see 75 miles of trees and to the west to the blue ridge mountains. Anyway Becca took a lot of pictures so I think it will show the place better than I can describe it.
Well that is really all I can think of to say. Orientation starts tomorrow for me and classes on Wednesday. Becca is still looking for a job, but we have faith she can find one soon. We miss you all and want you to know that we are doing pretty well.
